Kelly Coffield Appointed President of Cobham Life Support Group

DAVENPORT, IA – Due to a review of company strategy and group functions, Cobham plc, Dorset, UK, parent company of Carleton Life Support Systems Inc, Davenport, has created six business divisions within it’s worldwide companies.

The divisions are:

  • Cobham Antennas
  • Cobham Defense Electronic Systems
  • Cobham Avionics and Surveillance
  • Cobham Aerial Refuelling and Auxillary Mission Equipment
  • Cobham Life Support
  • Cobham Flight Operations and Services

Kelly Coffield, President of Carleton Life Support Systems Inc., has been appointed President of the Cobham Life Support Group. Mr. Coffield will report directly to Allan Cook, Chief Executive of Cobham.

Mr. Coffield will direct the companies within the Cobham Life Support Group which include Carleton Life Support Systems Inc., Davenport; Carleton Aerosystems, Orchard Park, NY; Carleton Pressure Technology Division, Westminster, MD; Carleton Life Support Technologies Ltd., Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; Conax Florida Corporation, St. Petersburg, FL; Carleton Technologies Inc., Tampa, FL; H. Koch and Sons, Anaheim, CA; and Draeger Aerospace, Lubeck, Germany.

This is the first time in the history of Carleton Life Support Systems that an emplyee has been named to a corporate level position. Mr. Coffield will assume these new responsibilities without relocating. A replacement for Mr. Coffield as President of Carleton Life Support Systems will be named at a later date.

This appointment reflects the creation of a flatter management structure for Cobham and will support the strategy of focusing on leading market positions, building capabilities and further driving operating performance.

Prior to being named Carleton Life Support President in August 1998, Mr. Coffield was the Director of Commercial Products for the division. In that position, he led the company’s efforts to commercialize its defense technologies and gain entry into the respiratory health care market.
Mr. Coffield first worked at Life Support in 1983 as a student engineer while attending the University of Iowa. He joined the company in 1986 and held progressively responsible engineering positions until 1992 when he was promoted to Assistant Director of Commercial Product Engineering. He became Director of Commercial Products in 1994 and held that position until he was named Company President in 1998.
