Carleton Life Support Awarded US Navy LOX to OBOGS Retrofit Contract May 24, 2004 (Davenport, IA) Carleton Life Support Systems Inc. announced today that it has been awarded the U.S. Navy retrofit contract for Molecular Sieve Oxygen Concentrators for the LOX to OBOGS (LTO) program from NAVAIR Systems Command, Patuxent River, MD. The award covers verification test hardware and production options for 600 concentrators over four years. This program will retrofit the EA-6B, E-2C and F-18 Navy carrier based aircraft with Carleton’s model OC1169 Slimline IITM oxygen concentrators. Carleton’s On Board Oxygen Generating Systems (OBOGS) will be installed to eliminate the need for liquid oxygen (LOX) by using the readily available bleed air from the aircraft’s engine. The bleed air is then separated into its elements through Carleton’s molecular sieve technology to concentrate an unlimited supply of breathing oxygen to the pilot. Carleton Life Support Systems Inc., formerly Northrop Grumman Life Support, is a world leader in the application of gas separation technology and in the design of cryogenic coolers. Among our many products are On-Board Oxygen Generating Systems (OBOGS), Breathing Regulators and Oxygen Concentrators, which reduce the logistical burden of supplying liquid oxygen (LOX) on an aircraft; On-Board Inert Gas Generating Systems (OBIGGS), which increases the survivability of a low flying aircraft and Cryogenic Coolers for use in infrared night vision equipment. |
