Bargaining Unit - (Career Path)

Assembly Technician – An Assembly Technician performs technical and diverse work of routine as well as non-routine nature. They also perform multi-faceted work that is necessary to assemble, inspect, test, calibrate, diagnose, and repair units. This position requires employees to have a two year technical degree (electrical/mechanical preferred), three years troubleshooting experience and skilled in the areas that encompass electronics, electro-mechanical, mechanical and hybrid combinations.

CNC Machinist – At Carleton Life Support Systems, CNC Machinists responsibilities include setting up and operating CNC lathes and machining centers, program editing, and working with small parts that have close tolerances. This position requires employees to have a minimum of three years experience operating, setting up, and program editing on equipment.

Inspectors – An Inspector’s responsibilities include performing dimensional and/or functional examinations of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical components and sub-assemblies as well as parts, gears, moldings, and casting, which have been purchased or fabricated in-house. This position requires employees to complete all classes and required on the job training for Inspectors, as well as being able to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, specifications, and written instructions.

Lapper – A Lapper’s responsibilities include setting up and operating all types of lapping machines, and performing by hand all lapping operations. They work under close tolerances, and produce parts with very fine finishes. This position requires employees to be able to read blueprints, analysis sheets, and written instructions to obtain information on job requirements and then check produced parts against job specifications.

Parts Washer – The Parts Washer must be able to perform a variety of parts washing/cleaning activities including hand washing, ultrasonic cleaning, cold degreasing, needling, etc.

Storekeeper – A Storekeeper receives, records, stores, weighs, counts, packages, and prepares for disbursement, all incoming and outgoing parts and materials that are routed through finished stores stocking area. This position requires employees to demonstrate proficiency in job requirements and must be able to use a computer and all job-related software necessary for the performance of duties.
