The LC1040 and LC1045 linear cryocoolers shown are state-of-the-art linear cryocoolers containing internal drive circuitry with closed-loop cooling mode. This mode of operation allows the cryocooler to throttle back the power to maintain a preset temperature once this set point has been reached. This provides the advantages of a lower overall power consumption and a longer cryocooler life. The internal circuit is available in a commercial or military screened component version.

The LC1045 adds a closed-loop diode temperature sense feedback module that modifies the signal level fed back to the internal drive circuit, making it compatible for use in systems with such characteristics.

Applications

The LC1040 is suitable to be used on multiple common module-based IR systems that require a closed-loop operating module. An example application for the LC1040 is an upgrade of the AN/TAS-4 TOW night sight from rotary or JT cryocooler to a linear cryocooler. The LC1045 is qualified for and is in use onboard the US Navy FA/18 ATARS (Advanced Tactical Airborne Reconnaissance System).
